Is This Kid Ever Going To Do Another Post?
Back by popular demand, here I am. A couple of you have been bugging me about updating this thing (Laura and Vivian), so here goes a quick recap of whats going on the past month. For some reason my plethora of free time has vanished, and I no longer have my own internet connection, so these have become a little harder to do.
House: Moved in on Jan 10th. I though it was going to be around a month or so till the previous owner moved out. Well guess what, 5 days after closing I took pocession. Its been a lot better experience than I imagined, although its amazing all the little crap that you can find to do. Its also amazing how half ass, people tend to fix things. You can walk through something several times and until you start tearing things apart you truly don't know what you have. The only bad surprise so far has been a little water in the basement. It happened literally 3 days after I moved in and we'll have to see how bad it gets this spring. It happend when we had those 50 degree days with rain, and I had a gentlemen out who recommened some things I can do outside to greatly improve the situation. I have been tearing out a multude of wires out of the basement ceiling. I wish I would have snapped a photo before I started, but I had never seen so many wires in a home. Turns out many of them were dead or open ended, so whats a man to do? Begin tearing them out. As you can see from the picture, I ended up with a pretty decent pile. Ben Kaminsky and I also started a little project this weekend and put some can lights up in the basement. Yeah the place is an absolute mess, but the lights turned out pretty good. Hopefully by this weekend it will be cleaned up, because my parents, along with my sister and brother in law are coming into town.
Other Stuff: January is that time of year again, yes I'm talking about the one and only Detroit Auto Show. Chris Miller and his wife, Chrissy, and her brother, came up for the weekend, and became my first house visitors in the process. Its amazing how much more enjoyable it is to host someone in your own home, as compared to hosting people in your roommates home. We had an absolute blast. The show was steller again this year, and its nice to see that GM is getting mostly good press these days. The new Cadillac CTS is awesome! Although in a more pratical sense I'm guessing that this may be my next new car in a year or two. The Pontiac G8.
Saw the Pistons play the Lakers this past Thursday. No matter how many times you go to a basketball game they never get old. We had an outing for work and I took Ben Kaminsky along with me. If you've wondered why I've mentioned Ben twice now, its because hes now living in Detroit after having moved up from Alabama. Its quite humorous to see someone who's become accustomed to the south, experience 0 degree whether for the first time in several years. His wife Laura should be moving up shortly, and it will be nice to have another pair of good friends in town.
If anyone finds themselves in the Detroit area, let me know and feel free to stop in. I now have a couple of extra bedrooms, although no extra beds to speak of at the moment. Man do I have a lot of crap to buy!
