El Weekend de Football

Took in a little live football this weekend. Was hooked up with Michigan vs. Wisconson tickets for Saturday at the last second and ended up attending the game with my friend Debbie. I've been to a couple of Michigan games before, but this is always a neat experience. The crowd is amazing, its not the loudest, but being part of a stadium full of 111,000 people all watching football is a pretty surreal experience. I'm greatfull for attending a university such as Cedarville (very intimate experience), but at the same time it would have been neat to be part of the whole "spectator" of big time college sports. Oh, well I guess you can't really have it both ways.

We also finally got our Lions season tickets this year (my buddy Mike and I). After waiting for two full years, on their waiting list, we finally have the right to watch one of the worst teams in the NFL. I actually get made fun of at work anytime that I mention I have tickets. Its still fun and this past weekend we got to take in the Packers and watch Brett Farve look like he was 25 years old again. Lions did have a chance to tie it up on the last play, but around 75% of the crowd had already left.

I have a little treat here for you. Someone was actually able to snap a picture of me this weekend dancing at a party. I think this may be the second one in existence in the entire universe. The moons must be perfectly aligned to get this rare phenomena, so they must have been on Saturday night. Nothing like dancing in somebodys kitchen. Good times!

Jugs or Nuts

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible, for the first time since I started this thing last March, I finally missed a week. I really didn't have too much to write about, and didn't want to do one of those, I did this, I did that kind of post. So instead I'm going to do one of my most controversial post ever. (Those of you with young ones may want to discontinue reading now : )
Co-ed flag football season started a couple of weeks ago, and our team name has evolved a bit. We originally started out as the Juggernauts, I have no idea why, but it worked for a couple seasons. Well last season we started joking around a little and somehow we came up with the term Jugs or Nuts. Creative isn't it. Yes, we are a group of people in our mid to late 20's and not teanagers. We've now made it official with team shirts and I thought I'd show them to you. If you don't get the logo you're an idiot by the way.

Luke and Gretchen Morningstar (high school friend and wife) stopped by the weekend of the 8th on their way back from Makinac Island. They were only able to stay one night, but I still had a blast considering it was the first time they had ever been by to see me in the five years I've lived up here. Good eats and good times were had by all.
Made the pilgrimage to IKEA finally for the first time in my life. We finally got one up here in Detroit this summer, and it has been packed ever since. These stores are pretty cool and I can see why they become tourist destinations in and of themselves. Some very cool fashionalbe stuff, although I could never see doing my whole house in it. It just doesn't seem like a lot of this stuff would last very long with heavy use, although its not too pricy so maybe thats not a bad tradeoff. Anyway, I made my first purchase of a cool LED light, it doesn't really function very well as a light, but I couldn't turn it down due to the coolness factor.

Out and About

I think this is the worst I've ever done keeping up with this blog thing. I'm losing it, sorry there folks. The Labor Day weekend made me a little lazy, and I just started my 9th out of 10 masters classes, so thats something else to worry about now. We also managed to attend a rain filled Tigers game last night, which they ended up losing. This team is starting to scare me. I think they have lost 15 out of there last 22 or something like that. They still lead their division by 4 games though. Should be an interesting last month to the baseball season. This past weekend was the Detroit Jazz Festival along with another huge festival up here the Pontiac Arts, Beats, and Eats Festival. I happened to attend both of these this weekend and had a blast. Lots of good food, and I most enjoyed the Jazz festival, and watched a couple complete concerts, with my favorite being Joan Osborne. A few picture highlights from the weekend:

These two pictures are from a high school around here called Cranbrook. Its a private school for extremely gifted kids in the arts and sciences.

Dowtown Detroit, Upper left is the Dodge fountain and on the right is a cool painted billboard for the Pontiac Solstice GXP, note General Motors headquarters in the background. Below is me trying to be a little artistic. I took this shot in the Compuware Building lobby. There is this awesome 15 story fountain in the middle of the atrium.
